Join Five Star on Saturday Feb. 4 for Empty Bowls Dothan. From 11am to 2pm, stop in to the Cultural Arts Center on St. Andrews Street. For $10, you get a unique handmade bowl and some soup. For each bowl purchased, a family of four can eat for a month through the Wiregrass United Way Food Bank. Look at it another way. If you are a family of four, stop by and purchase a bowl for each member of the family. That will help one family eat for a month. Plus, you get four beautiful bowls that no one else will have.
The Wiregrass United Way Food Bank distributes food on a weekly basis through 15 outlets. The need for food in the Wiregrass area is great. For businesses, by partnering with the Wiregress Food Bank they can donate unused food from their surplus or events. They can take a tax deduction for donating food items. Five Star employees volunteer time each month to help pack food for the food bank’s backpack program.
Five Star has been the main sponsor of Empty Bowls Dothan by providing all of the clay used to form the bowls. The staff from Five Star also formed 45 bowls that will be among the more than 500 sold on Feb. 4. Please make plans to attend and help the food bank continue to provide for Wiregrass families.
