Member Qualifications

Let's brighten your future at Five Star. With a simple $5 deposit into a savings account, you are a member of Five Star. It's $25 to open a checking account. At Five Star, checking is always free. There are options if you would like an account that gives you interest on your money. Five Star also offers a high yield youth account. We think you will find that Five Star is different and the best choice for you and your family.

In Alabama, you are eligible to join if you live, work, worship, or attend school in any of the Alabama counties listed below. You are eligible for all the benefits of membership at Five Star Credit Union. In Georgia, you are eligible to join if you live or work in any of the Georgia counties listed below. You are eligible for all the benefits of membership at Five Star Credit Union.

To apply for membership, click the "Open Your Account" button at the top of the page or visit your local branch. If none of those above counties applies to you, you can also join if you are employed by one of our Select Employer Groups (SEGs) that are eligible to be members. You are also eligible to join if you are a qualified family member or live in the same house as a current member. We are always expanding our field of membership. If you wish to join please contact us and we will help you determine if you can become a member of the Five Star family.

When visiting a branch to open an account, please bring a valid U.S. government issued photo ID (such as a drivers license or passport). 

For parents opening an account for a child or grandchild, please bring the adult’s photo ID and the adult and child’s social security cards.

If one or both of these are not available, there are alternate forms of ID that are legally acceptable. Please call us at 888-619-1711 (option 7 for Member Care) for more information on alternate identification that can be used.
